How It Works

Safety

The HenkelHookTM meets a critical need for a collapsible and automatically re-setting coat hook for schools and other unsupervised areas frequented by children.

The tragic death in 1998 of a ten year old student in a Chatham, Ontario school, made it evident that a collapsible hook was needed for school washrooms and other unsupervised areas. A response was essential to prevent injury from suspension on rigid coat hooks. A similar incident during 2004 in an elementary school in London, Ontario indicated that this issue had not been addressed other than to remove rigid hooks or take other costly preventive measures. Removal of rigid hooks from washrooms created a problem - where to place articles in a safe and sanitary way while using washroom facilities. The need was obvious for a reasonably priced, strong, vandal-resistant and tamper proof hook that would release at a specified weight and then automatically re-set.

The HenkelHookTM meets this need for safety and hygiene at a cost that is very affordable. Not only is it attractive because of the range of available colors, it is also very strong, being made of impact resistant polycarbonate. The engineered design makes it virtually tamper proof and easily installed in home, school, office, public building or any other location where safety and hygiene are important. This is a reasonable cost alternative to other expensive hooks selling at four to ten times the price.

The HenkelHookTM promotes the safety of children and provides a hygienic environment in washrooms and other locations for the placement of coats, backpacks, purses and other articles.

Magnets:
        N40 Grade Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB)

Magnet Coating:
        Three layer coating of Nickel-Copper-Nickel having a minimum thickness of 0.0015"

Magnet Life:
        Permanent magnetic field subject to the following conditions
             1. Magnets are not subject to excessive or prolonged heat above 45ºC;
             2. Magnets are not subject to high magnetic fields;
             3. Magnets are not subjected to outside impact or abrasion that will damage the coating and permit oxidation of the NdFeB.
Adhesive:
        Structural grade cyanoacrylate or equivalent

Pin:
        Zinc plated steel pin

Mounting:
        3 mounting screws provided - #6 stainless steel Robertson screws
        Mounting holes are counter-bored to accept #6 screws with screw heads flush with surface of base.

Release Weight:
        26 lbs. +/- 2 lbs. (11.8 kg. +/- 0.9 kg.)
 

Testing:
        Finite Element Analysis of geometry and material to determine stress points and degree of safety margin. Minor stress points were identified. All points have a margin of safety factor of 3 times actual identified stress.
        OnSpex (the consumer products evaluation division of CSA) testing is pending. The product will be subjected to tests to determine longevity, durability and reliability. Such tests will include those recommended by OnSpex. CSA certification will not be obtained as currently no standards exist against which to provide certification.

Warranty

The HenkelHookTM has been engineered to operate effectively for an indefinite period of time and is warranted for one full year to be free from manufacturing defects and will be replaced free of charge in the event such defects occur. Replacement is subject to the return of the product for recycling of components or environmentally friendly disposal by the Company. The Company will make arrangements with the customer for return of product.
 

Normal wear and tear and damage resulting from abuse and vandalism are excluded from warranty coverage.
